This policy explains what personal information Hire & Host collects, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses hireandhost.com. See also our Terms of Service.

1. Who we are

Hire & Host (hireandhost.com) is run by Gigebyte Digital, OPC, a one person corporation in the Philippines, which is the personal information controller for the information described here. For any privacy question or request, including reaching our Data Protection Officer, email [email protected].

2. What we collect

Everyone with an account

Your name, email address and password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form).
If you use “Continue with Google”, the name and email address Google shares with us.

Hosts

Inquiries you send providers: event date, event type, number of guests, location and your message.
Your messages, and any files you attach.
Reviews you write, and reports you send us.

Providers

Business details: business name, contact number, business email, address and its map location, logo, photos, packages, prices, service areas and currency.
Verification documents, if you choose to get verified: a government ID (front and back), a selfie holding it, and for a business its Certificate of Incorporation / Registration and Business License / Tax Registration Certificate. A government ID is sensitive personal information, which we process only with your consent.
Your messages and replies to reviews.

Collected automatically

Your IP address and basic browser details in our server logs, used for security and to limit abuse.
Cookies, described in section 9.

Bookings and payments

When a host pays for a booking, our payment processor collects the card or e-wallet details. We never see or store full card numbers. We receive a confirmation of the payment and the last digits of the card, if one was used.
A record of each booking and payment: the package, the host and provider, the amount, the dates, and any dispute and its outcome.
For providers, the payout account you set for receiving payments.

3. How we use it

To run the platform: create your account, show provider listings, and let hosts and providers message each other.
To handle bookings: take a host’s payment, hold it in escrow, pay the provider after the event, and review any dispute.
To send you service emails: for example, an email when a message has been waiting for you unread.
To verify providers, with their consent, and show the verified badge.
To keep Hire & Host safe: check reviews and listings, handle reports (including reading a reported conversation), and prevent fraud, spam and abuse.
To answer your requests and meet our legal obligations.

4. Why we’re allowed to use it

Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), we process your information to provide the service you signed up for (a contract with you), to keep the directory safe (our legitimate interests), to comply with the law, and, for verification documents and optional cookies, because you gave us your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time; withdrawing consent for verification removes the verified badge.

5. Who can see your information

Other users: a provider’s business details, packages and prices are shown on Hire & Host, and the contact details only to visitors who are logged in. Reviews show the reviewer’s first name and last initial. In a conversation, the other person sees your messages and your name, but never your account email or password.
Our team: only staff who need to, for example to review a business or a report. Verification documents can be opened only by staff with that permission, and each time they are opened is recorded.
Service providers who work for us: our cloud hosting providers, DigitalOcean (file storage, in Singapore), and Google (sign-in, sending our emails, and Google Maps if you allow it), and our payment processor, which handles card and e-wallet payments and payouts. They may process information outside the Philippines, and only on our instructions.
The other side of a booking: a provider sees the name and event details of the host who booked them, and a host sees the provider’s business details. Neither sees the other’s payment details.

6. Verification documents

Verification documents are stored privately. They are never shown on the website or given a public link, and only authorized staff can view them. We keep them while your business is listed on Hire & Host, and delete them when the business is removed. They are used only to verify you.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open and for as long as we need it for the purposes above, for example to handle a report or a legal claim. Booking and payment records are kept for as long as Philippine tax and accounting law requires. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security.

8. How we protect it

We use encrypted connections, store passwords only in hashed form, keep private files in private storage, and limit staff access to what each person needs. To protect users, phone numbers, emails and social links may be hidden in messages. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts your information at risk, we’ll tell you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.

9. Cookies

We use a few essential cookies, which the site needs to work, and don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.

Google Maps (optional). The map on package pages and address suggestions when you type a location come from Google Maps. We load them only if you allow it. Google then receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under Google’s privacy policy. You can change your choice anytime: .

10. Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:

be informed about how your information is used;
access your information and get a copy of it;
correct information that is wrong;
object to processing, and withdraw consent you gave;
have your information deleted or blocked;
get your information in a format you can take elsewhere;
claim damages, and complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).

To use any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address on your account. We’ll reply as soon as we can, and within the time the law requires.

11. Children

Hire & Host is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.

12. Changes to this policy

We’ll post any update here with a new “Last updated” date, and tell account holders about important changes before they take effect.
